An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Wills, Probate and Estate Planning department for an experienced Solicitor or Legal Executive to take a senior position within our existing team. This is the perfect opportunity for the right candidate to make their mark in an already established and rapidly expanding department. Our Wills, Probate and Estate Planning department in particular has seen forward-thinking developments with the introduction of a new onboarding role, ensuring a smooth experience for our clients.  The department can also boast the firm’s first SQE Trainee Solicitor and in 2025, we expanded the department into our Witney office.

The role

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Carry out a wide variety of Wills, Probate and Estate Planning matters particularly for high net worth clients and trust and tax planning matters.
  • Line manage the team, assisting in training and development of your colleagues, including our trainees/apprentices.
  • Alongside the Head of Department provide technical assistance and support to other lawyers in the team to aid learning and development
  • Build a busy case load and supplement our firm's existing strong trust and estate planning offering 
  • Assist in managing the overall team alongside the other Partners/Head of Department to include input on strategy and objectives for the department

The candidate

We are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent technical knowledge of all areas of Wills, Probate, LPAs, Trusts, Estates and tax planning work particularly in relation to estate and tax planning matters for high net worth clients which will be essential.
  • An existing knowledge of the market and contacts in Salisbury, as well as strong networking and business development skills will be required. This is to assist when collaborating with the Marketing department on new ideas and opportunities.
  • Strong line management skills with a passion to assist colleagues with their own learning and development.
  • The right candidate will be a team player with an enthusiasm to help grow the department further to include assisting in training and development
  • STEP Qualification or commitment to acquiring this would be desirable
  • Willing and able to attend the office at least 3 days a week
