Paralegal Apprenticeships at Parker Bullen

The role of a Paralegal is an important one in any law firm, as you will be helping your colleagues prepare for their matters, undertaking valuable research and liaising with clients and other third parties.

There are several routes towards becoming a Paralegal, with Paralegal Apprenticeships growing in popularity due to their hands-on approach.

What is a Paralegal Apprenticeship?

Under this apprenticeship, you will be required to spend a minimum of 20% of your working week on the apprenticeship with the remaining time working in one of our four offices.  The department you work in will be determined by the needs of our firm at the time, however any preference you have will be taken into consideration.

Through our apprenticeship, working with our chosen provider, you will complete the apprenticeship over 21 months resulting in a Level 3 CILEX Paralegal Apprenticeship qualification.

Who can apply for a Paralegal Apprenticeship?

This apprenticeship is ideal for those who are looking to leave school and have an interest in a career within the law, but who either aren’t interested or do not have the opportunity to go to University.

Ideally, you will have five GCSEs, including English and Maths, as well as three A Levels.

What are the stages for a Paralegal Apprenticeship?

There are three main stages to the Paralegal Apprenticeship including:

1). Planning – during this initial stage, there will be an English and Maths assessment followed by the programme planning and induction.

2). On-programme learning – this stage is the main focus of your apprenticeship and will cover your Legal Knowledge and Skills, delivered through one-to-one and group interaction.  The topics that will be covered during your apprenticeship will vary from the practical skills such as managing yourself and your work, collaborating with your colleagues and your ethics and judgement, through to the technical legal content such as Contract Law, Land Law & Conveyancing Practice, Wills & Probate Practice, Family Law & Practice, and Criminal Law & Litigation.

3). End-point assessment – towards the end of your apprenticeship, there will be several meetings in addition to your timed assessments and portfolio based interview.

What work experience will I receive as part of the Paralegal Apprenticeship?
