Ashley joined our Wills, Probate & Estate Planning department in June 2018 having worked in Private Client law since 2013 and Personal Injury for 5 years before that. He qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2015, Trust and Estate Practitioner in 2016 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2019.  In May 2020, he became Head of the department and in May 2022, he was promoted to Partner.

Being qualified in both legal and tax matters and drawing on his wide range of experience enables Ashley to provide high quality advice. He is able to advise on Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Deputyship applications, estates, Inheritance Tax, estate planning, setting up, administering and terminating Trusts and personal tax matters including completing personal and Trust tax returns, IHT and CGT planning.  He has a particular interest in Inheritance Tax planning and Trust matters and has experience in dealing with large, long established and complex trusts and estates.

During his time with the firm, he has had the pleasure to assist in the development of our Wills, Probate and Estate Planning department progressing to the Head of the team which has grown significantly.  He is proud to lead a team who are all dedicated in providing the best possible advice and service to clients and who are so supportive to each other.

He is pleased to be at the point in his career where he has acted for families for multiple generations who trust him to provide the advice not only that they require but also to advise their children and grandchildren.  Using this information, he is able to advise clients about what is best for them but also what is best for their families, where appropriate.  Over the years, Ashley has advised families with estates ranging from the small to the very large (£70million+).  With this nature of work, Ashley values the variety and enjoys working with a whole range of different clients with varying views and objectives.

When advising any client, Ashley always aims to work with colleagues and contacts together with a client’s own accountants and financial advisers to find the best solutions or outcomes. He thrives when solving challenging problems particularly in relation to Trusts, estates and estate planning. His dual qualification in both legal and tax areas enables him to advise clients at a high level and provide a whole service where several different advisers may otherwise be required.  His approach is to always be friendly and not too formal, providing advice that is pragmatic, understandable and treating clients how we want to be treated ourselves.

Thank you. Mr Partridge is in the middle of a very convoluted affair regarding a friend who is having problems with a Power of Attorney and Will issue. He has been absolutely magnificent and the best Lawyer I have ever dealt with. Parker Bullen are definitely our solicitors for good!

Would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Gareth, Ashley and the team at Andover for their guidance and help in sorting my late Mother’s Estate out. Nothing was too much trouble and when I wasn’t sure what or which way to turn they were always there to explain and show me what was happening. Thank you again Guys.

Very good from start to finish - Ashley and Chris guided us though some IHT and LPA advice that was both practical and effective, and made good sense both tax-wise and legacy-wise. We've made some changes already - wills, trusts, gifts, PETs, LPAs etc and have some more to do but we'll certainly follow the guidance we've received.

My partner and I required new wills and advice on inheritance tax. From the outset we were given clear, sound advice. A price was quoted at the first meeting which we were happy with. The process was efficient and effective, with the required wills and advice provided in the timescale indicated. We would be happy to recommend this firm to others. The people who dealt with us were Ashley Partridge and Chris Smith, both of whom were approachable, responsive and professional.

Ashley started his career in law at the age of 19 as a personal injury claims handler with no legal experience or education having worked for an insurance company for a few years before.  He studied alongside working full time and upon qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive then moved to Wills, Probate and Trusts. This change in his area of law fuelled him to undertake further study initially with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and then onto tax exams to become a Chartered Tax Adviser.

When joining the firm, Ashley's initial impression was that the people and Partners were friendly, inviting, and it was absolutely a place that he would fit in and wanted to work. As a Partner, he wants to continue to foster the supportive and friendly environment where the firm strives to provide excellent client service and advice, promote the wellbeing of our staff and to be a firm where others actively want to join.
