This week we are launching an innovative new training project to maintain the training of our up and coming lawyers during the lockdown. In what is thought to be the first initiative of its kind we have launched the Parker Bullen Training Academy.
The aim of the Academy is firstly to ensure the continued development and comprehensive training programme for all trainees in the Firm. But secondly, it is designed to develop and support the trainees with management thinking, such as that provided by the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses scale-up programme.
Talking about programme, Mark Lello, Partner and Head of Commercial at Parker Bullen and the architect of the new Academy commented; “It is vital that we continue the education and development of our very talented trainees. Parker Bullen has long been committed to the development of our people and in particular, the next generation of lawyers. It is really important to us to ensure the continuation of their training despite the Coronavirus crisis and resulting restrictions on our ability to attend the office and conduct ‘business as usual’.”
Trainees will continue with their professional development covering legal know-how and skills but uniquely, they will also cover wider skills that will develop their business acumen, business development capabilities and also client satisfaction skills.
With intriguing sessions including ‘Things I wish I’d been told when I was a trainee’ alongside more typical subjects such as Powers of attorney, trainees will ‘graduate’ with a set of legal and business tools (and canny tips for use in later legal practice) which will arm them well for their professional lives ahead.
Mark Lello comments further; “To be honest this was something we were planning before the lockdown. We just had to tweak it slightly so as to be able to deliver the modules remotely. We feel it is really important to maintain the training of our budding young lawyers during this crisis. Not only that, we want to provide them with world-class teaching which will stand them in great stead for their future careers. I am immensely looking forward to delivering this programme in addition to the important work we are carrying out for our amazing clients. I have already earned the nickname ‘Teach’!”
