“I have been fortunate as a trainee to do a lot of practical work right from day 1. In my first seat I have been researching for and attending client meetings as well as delivering on matters. I have already developed crucial client relationship skills and have been applying the information that I had only previously studied in theory on my LPC.

On many cases, I have had a good overview of the whole clients’ needs and seen the interplay between different legal disciplines. In my first seat in Corporate Commercial, I was assisting on a number of transactional matters including share and asset purchase agreements and in my second seat in Property I have dealt with the property-side of the same transactional matters. It’s great to have that continuity and to get an overview of the whole client and their needs.

I have also joined the Salisbury Young Professionals (SYP) Group and the South Hampshire Junior Lawyers Division (SHJLD). Both of these have provided great networking opportunities and a means of meeting with other people at a similar stage of their careers which is helpful now and I am sure will be useful in the future. Another benefit is that both organisations run social events including talks, pub quizzes, and a ball which has been great fun!”
