Probate & Estate Administration

The death of a loved one is a difficult time.  In addition to the emotional aspects, the deceased’s financial affairs will need to be administered.  This will be in accordance with their Will if they made one or, if not, in accordance with the intestacy provisions.  Whatever the position and whether the estate is large or small, we can assist you.  We can ensure that all of the legal requirements are complied with, thereby taking away additional stress from the family.

I just wanted to say how thankful I am to Claire for all her work on my Mother’s estate. It is always hard losing a parent and having to take on all the finances, but Claire has been supportive and personable throughout the whole process. I could not have done this without her. She has kept me informed at every step, and unlike other times when dealing with Solicitors, I have never had to chase Claire once

We can assist by:

  • advising on the terms of the Will
  • advising on the intestacy provisions if there is not a valid Will
  • explaining the role and duties of the executors
  • safeguarding the executors from risk and liabilities
  • gathering details of the assets and liabilities
  • assisting with any foreign aspects of the estate
  • preparing the inheritance tax (IHT) account
  • obtaining any IHT reliefs that may be available
  • obtaining the Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration
  • distributing the estate
  • dealing with any related income tax (IT) or capital gains tax (CGT) liabilities
